Researchers from the Re‑Livestock project participated in the XIII Workshop of the Spanish Network REMEDIA, held on 3-4 June 2026 at the Aula Dei Campus in Zaragoza (Spain). The event, co‑organised with CIHEAM Zaragoza, CSIC, CITA, and the University of Zaragoza, focused on agricultural, livestock and forestry solutions to climate change.

During the workshop, Re‑Livestock researchers presented new results developed within the project, contributing to discussions on innovative approaches to improve the sustainability and resilience of livestock systems.

One of the studies presented, entitled “Effects of different ventilation strategies on nutrient dynamics in compost‑bedded pack dairy systems under Mediterranean conditions”, examined how different ventilation regimes affect the physical and chemical characteristics of compost‑bedded pack (CBP) systems in dairy farms.

The results provided new insights into the role of management strategies in improving the performance of these systems, particularly under Mediterranean conditions. The study highlighted how ventilation influences bedding quality and system functionality, underlining the importance of adapting management practices to specific environmental contexts.

These findings contribute to a better understanding of how to optimise dairy housing systems and support the development of more efficient, resilient and sustainable dairy farming systems.

Participation in the REMEDIA Workshop reaffirms the role of Re‑Livestock in advancing science‑based solutions and fostering knowledge exchange within the Spanish and European research community, in line with its objective of enhancing livestock sustainability and climate resilience.
