A zootechnical study in growing pigs to evaluate the use of local legumes as protein sources in a Mediterranean region (Spain) will be carried out in a commercial farm, at the Centro de Experimentación Porcino at Aguilafuente (Segovia, Spain).
The objective of the experiment is to evaluate different locally grown legumes (pea, chickpea and lentil) to replace soya as protein source in pig diets. The effect will be evaluated in terms of health and performance.
The study will start in June 2023 (batch 1) and October 2023 (batch 2). Study duration: 28 days each batch.
